The Time Warner Center located in the heart of Manhattan at Columbus Circle – 59th Street and Broadway, is one of New York City’s most iconic destinations. It is a place where residents and visitors can dine, shop, live, work and be entertained. The soaring 2.8 million square foot landmark has transformed Columbus Circle into a thriving urban neighborhood.
The 79- story building includes the 900,000 sq. ft. Time Warner Headquarters as well as 500,000 sq. ft. of retail space and restaurants, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and the luxurious Mandarin Oriental New York hotel as well as apartments and offices.
The unique combination of retail and hotel with private residential and offices required a security solution with the operational dynamics to address public traffic flow while maintaining the integrity of the secured spaces.
Security Management Systems was contracted to complete the buildings’ security command center. At the command center security personnel monitor a large bank of monitors that feed video from approximately 360 CCTV cameras. Security personnel can also centrally oversee 480 alarm monitoring and access points that are controlled with both proximity and biometric readers.
Time Warner Center is currently upgrading their hybrid system to an enterprise level all digital solution that will leverage their existing infrastructure.
